My name is Jill Meuris, and I’m a designer/costumer based in Montreal. As On Pointe Tutus, I provide custom, hand crafted, professional tutus and costumes to dancers performing in competitions such as the Youth America Grand Prix and for various professional and semi-professional productions.
I grew up dancing, and understand the need for dancers to be comfortable, and how a costume should fit and move in order to maintain a full range of motion. I believe that to perform your best, you must not only look your best, but also feel your best. My focus is on excellent fit, durable construction using quality materials, and classic and versatile designs. This attention to detail, experience in fitting, and understanding of the intricacies of dance costuming has made me a sought-after designer/costumer in the Montreal dance community and abroad.
When I started making tutus in 2005, I never dreamed where this adventure would take me. To date, I have been blessed and honoured to work with wonderful dancers who have danced with the Opera de Paris and les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Royal Ballet School, English National Ballet School, Ellison Ballet School, Alvin Ailey, Ballet Montreal School of Performing Arts, École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec, Ballet Divertimento, College Sainte-Anne, the Rock School for Dance, and the Ottawa School of Dance.
Professional contracts include 45 DEGREES (a global events division of Cirque du Soleil), Point d’Équilibre (a documentary produced in collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada), les Grands Ballets Canadiens, le Festival des Arts de St-Sauveur, and costumes for dancers competing in the televised competition Révolution on TVA in Canada.
Costuming has allowed me to combine my passion for sewing and dance, and to share it with my clients. I look forward to bringing your costume dreams to life!
